Anxiety and depression are two of the most common challenges to our mental health, often occurring together and creating significant distress. While psychotherapy and medications are standard treatments, there is much more we can do to boost our mood. Research on mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) has greatly increased over the past decade. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) are the most common. According to a 2017 study on “Mindfulness-Based Interventions for Anxiety and Depression” states that “The treatment principles of MBI for anxiety and depression are compatible with those of standard CBT”.
